World Children’s Day: A Gift for Her Future

Ikwee School water tank project. Supported by Reece Foundation.

Today, on World Children’s Day, we celebrate the power of community in shaping brighter futures for children everywhere. At Love Mercy, our programs are dedicated to supporting children in northern Uganda by empowering their families and communities with tools, resources, and knowledge. As we enter the holiday season, we invite you to be a part of this journey with us and give the gift for her future.

Why northern Uganda needs our support

In northern Uganda, many children face challenges that impact their ability to thrive—limited access to healthcare, food insecurity, and the impacts of climate change on their communities. For many families, these barriers make it difficult to access education, healthcare, and basic resources. But with the right support, these challenges can be overcome, paving the way for children to build brighter, healthier futures.

How our programs impact children’s lives

Our programs address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and lack of resources by focusing on sustainable, community-based solutions. Here’s how they make a difference:

  1. Kristina Health Centre: Accessible healthcare is essential for a healthy start in life. The Kristina Health Centre serves thousands of children and families each year, providing essential services, vaccinations, and maternal care. By ensuring children receive the healthcare they need, we’re helping them grow stronger, healthier, and ready to learn.

  2. Cents for Seeds: Poverty is a significant barrier to education and a stable home life for many children. Through our Cents for Seeds program, we equip mothers with seeds, tools, and training to grow food and earn an income. This sustainable approach enables families to build food security, send their children to school, and invest in their futures.

  3. Well Worth It: For many children—especially girls—the responsibility of collecting water falls on their shoulders. This daily task can take up to six hours, often causing girls to miss out on school. Having close access to a reliable, clean water source is essential not only for reclaiming this time for their education but also for safeguarding their health. Our work to build and repair borehole wells plays a critical role in preventing waterborne diseases, helping ensure that children can attend school and reach their full potential.

At Ikwee school in northern Uganda, Love Mercy installed a 10,000L water tank and guttering for the students to have access to a reliable water source..

Thanks to generous funding from our partner Reece Foundation, the water tank was installed as part of a complete rainwater harvesting system that provides a secondary water supply during the rainy season for growing crops.

Recently visited by one of Love Mercy’s board directors, Caitlin McGrath, the students expressed their gratitude for the tank:

“We thank Love Mercy for this rainwater tank at our school.

It gives us water for our school day and home.”

This Christmas, give a gift for her future.

Because of you, children will have hope for their futures. This is your opportunity to have generations of impact in northern Uganda. This holiday season, every donation helps provide essential resources—healthcare, seeds, education, and clean water—that empower young girls and boys to build brighter futures.

When you give, you’re not just giving a one-time gift. You’re investing in the long-term growth and wellbeing of a child, a family, and a community. Imagine the difference we can make together when we give the gift of health, knowledge, and opportunity.

Join us in making a difference
